Arthur Ray “Art” Preston
On November 28, 2025, Arthur Ray Preston, born in Fayette County, Texas, passed away peacefully at 83 years of age. Known fondly as “Art” or “Ray,” he was a devoted father and grandfather, a beloved brother, and a loyal friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.Art spent more than 32 years as a proud driver for United Parcel Service, where he earned numerous safe-driving awards and the respect of his colleagues. His commitment, steady reliability, and warm personality made him a cherished member of the UPS family. To say Art was an avid fisherman would be an understatement. Fishing wasn’t merely a pastime for him—it was his passion, his peace, and his joy. The water was where he felt most at home, and it seemed to embrace him in return. He was featured in several periodicals for his accomplishments as an angler, but it was the simple pleasures that meant the most to him: a sunny afternoon, a single cast, the company of good friends, and the quiet magic of being on the water.Art is survived by his son, Anthony Preston (Suzanne); his brothers, Ben and Henry Henderson; his sisters, Edith Williams and Ethel McVeigh; and his four granddaughters—Ashley, Alexsaundra, Olivia, and Sophia—each a source of deep pride. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Webb and Ellis families for the love and companionship they shared with Ray. Special thanks are also offered to his many fishing friends, whose camaraderie enriched his life beyond measure. As we remember Art, we take comfort in knowing that the waters he loved so deeply are now his eternal place of peace. In lieu of a funeral, a memorial service celebrating Art's life will be held in the near future.
