Omar Farouk Roque (born Michael D. Roque).
09/21/1952 - 06/04/2026
Omar Farouk Roque was born Michael David Roque in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph Obane Roque and Ruth Carson-Roque. He was the third child of four boys: Joseph Roque, Joel Roque and Keith Roque (deceased). Omar was an infant when his family relocated to Compton, CA, where he grew up, went to school, and assisted his parents with small tasks in their corner market, located in Compton, CA. After graduating from Centennial high school, he joined the United States Armed Forces, then later entered a medical research program at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). His favorite sports teams were the LA Dodgers and UCLA Bruins. During his young adult years, he participated in a tennis club, along with his father and brothers.
Omar married Karla Villalobos and from that union two children were born: Jeronimo Roque and Xochi Roque. The family moved to Mexico where Omar worked in the medical field, helping to care for individuals in underserved communities. Being the adventurous individual that he was, Omar traveled to Egypt. then journeyed to Mecca. After returning home, he converted to Islam and changed his name to Omar Farouk Roque. Continuing his quest for odyssey, he moved to Cuba, living there for many years. After returning to the United States, he lived in California and utilized his high intellect and keen research skills in the Law profession and to trace his paternal ancestry from the Louisiana Creoles back to the Moors of Africa. He was very knowledgeable about world history and would talk to anyone for hours sharing historical facts. We will missing having those long intellectual conversation with him. May Omar rest in eternal peace.
Omar will truly be missed by his family and friends.
