Victor Dale McGee was born on December 14, 1956, in Jackson, Mississippi. He was the eldest of four children born to the late Mr. Alonzo McGee and Mrs. Celestine McGee. At six months old, Victor and his family migrated to California, where he was raised and educated in the Los Angeles Unified School District. He graduated from Verbum Dei High School and later attended Southwest College.
Victor later relocated to Houston, Texas, where he met and married the love of his life, Mrs. Lynne Dawson. Two children were born to this union. Victor was an excellent cook and a true jack of all trades. He took great pride in his work and was continuously employed as an independent construction worker. Victor deeply loved his family and valued his many friends. He enjoyed listening to music of all genres and spent much of his spare time watching and participating in the activities of the 119 Roller Bird Club. His loyalty, love, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alonzo McGee; his beloved wife, Lynne McGee; his mother-in-law, Annie Mae Dawson; his grandson, C.J. Jr.; and his brother, Marcus Coulter. Victor peacefully departed this life on October 23, 2025, at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Lawrence Simmons and Victor McGee Jr. (Derrick); his daughter, Maisha Davis (Emmanuel) of Houston, Texas; his devoted mother, Mrs. Celestine McGee; his brothers, Kevin McGee and Terrence McGee of Los Angeles, California; and his sisters, Audrey McGee (Robert) of Los Angeles, California, Michelle Allen of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Youlandra Brown (Robert) of Minneapolis, Minnesota.He is also survived by four stepsons: Ronald Dawson, Desmond Dawson (Monica) of Houston, Texas, Charles Dawson (Jaclyn) of Liberty, Texas, and Richard Dawson (Ryan) of Dallas, Texas.
Additional loved ones include his brothers-in-law, Frank Dawson (Delores), Vandell Dawson, and Darrell Dawson, all of Houston, Texas; one cherished sister-in-law, Cynthia Dawson of Houston, Texas; and his loving aunt, Callie McGee-Stewart of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Victor also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
